Tower Farm Garden Holiday Lets’ three holiday cottages are set in the delightful Hampshire village of Soberton in the Meon Valley, which sits in the South Downs National Park (SDNP). Within 600 yards walk is a superb country pub, The White Lion, adjoining the Church Green. The world-renowned River Meon, one of the rare chalk streams, is within a short walking distance, as is the converted, 11-mile Meon Valley Railway Line which you can use for walking, cycling or horse riding. Various golf clubs, fishing areas and riding facilities are within easy reach. The Wayfarers Walk can be joined within walking distance of the cottages on this part of a 71-mile trail from Inkpen Beacon to Emsworth.
Hampshire’s quiet village of Soberton sits approximately halfway between the two market towns of Bishop’s Waltham and Wickham. Both small towns have an array of local shops, pubs and cafes within their historic buildings. The Forest of Bere, a 100-acre woodland area with walks and children’s play areas, is also within easy reach. The coast and beaches are also within a short drive, and a day visit to The Isle of Wight is only a ferry ride away. Slightly further afield, but within 45 minute drive, are the historic dockyard at Portsmouth together with modernized Gunwharf Quays which is host to restaurants, bars, entertainment and outlet designer shops.
Winchester and its beautiful Cathedral, being the longest Gothic Cathedral in the world is easily accessible. Historic buildings and monuments run through this ancient city which was once the former Royal Capital before London. In the Great Hall of Winchester Castle, built by William the Conqueror, is the greatest symbol of medieval mythology, King Arthur’s Round Table.
In the nearby village of Chawton is the picturesque 17th-century country cottage where the novelist Jane Austen spent the last eight years of her life. The house is now a Grade 1 listed museum. Also a stones throw away is the famous naturalist and author Gilbert White’s House and Garden and The Oates Collection, which celebrates the lives of three explorers of the natural world.
Chichester, another Cathedral town, also boasts the Weald & Downland Living Museum, Goodwood Motor Circuit, Racecourse and Aerodrome as well as the famous Festival Theatre.
National Trust properties and Gardens are abundant in this fabulous and interesting County; Hinton Ampner, Mottisfont, The Vyne and West Green House to name a few. Also, within twenty minutes drive is the renowned Marwell Zoo.
