We have stayed in Garden Cottage twice, once for the 2019 festive season and then in November 2021. We have had our Border Terriers with us on both occasions. I can only heap praise on the Tower Farm Garden Holiday Lets setup. Gill and Trevor are wonderful hosts. Nothing is too much trouble for them – they are really genuine people who make you feel welcome from the get-go. Although my comments are based on Garden Cottage I imagine that all three cottages are of the same ilk. Garden Cottage was spotlessly clean on our arrival and the welcome pack was a really thoughtful and much appreciated gesture. Garden Cottage has a kitchen/sitting room, and spacious bedroom with a huge double bed which can also be converted to two singles. The bathroom has a walk in shower and bath. Underfloor heating keeps things cosy throughout although there is also a log burner. There is access to a Laundry Room, additional freezer space and a Boot/Drying across the courtyard at the back of the properties. Each cottage has its own lawned area which is securely fenced. We felt safe to let our two Border Terrorists out there without fear that we’d be searching for them for the rest of the day! There is also a large field where dogs can be exercised. The walled garden is beautiful, even in winter. It’s a huge labour of love for Gill and Trevor and it will be interesting to follow its evolution on subsequent visits. This is, understandably, not accessible to dogs.
During our stays (which were both winter ones) we have not felt the need to drive very far. The coast and South Downs are not far away but we enjoyed staying local most of the time. There is an ample scope of footpaths for walking. Many link in to the Meon Valley Trail, an 11 mile trail of former railway line now transformed into a multi use path. With regards to local eateries we tried the White Lion in Soberton, the Bucks Head in Meonstoke and the Bakers Arms in Droxford. All can be reached on foot and all are dog friendly. The Old Forge Tearooms at Hambledon are also worth a visit for a fabulous breakfast and light eats including a vast array of delicious cakes. It is around three miles from the cottages. There is also a lovely little café in St Wilfrid’s Church in Droxford serving hot drinks and cake. Both welcome dogs.
All in all I cannot recommend Tower Farm Garden Holiday Lets highly enough. We will definitely be returning.
